With a host of delicious restaurants that cater for all tastes and the famous ‘Pantiles’, a visit to the local farmers market on every 1st and 3rd weekend of each month is a must.
The neighbouring villages are also stepped in history, including Penshurst (the next village along) that hosts many local fairs, including their popular vintage/antiques fair and is home to Penshurst Place. The public houses in the area are, The Spotted Dog at Penshurst, The George and Dragon at Speldhurst, The Bottle House, at Penshurst and The Rock at Chiddingstone. Groombridge Place is also a great place to discover with Children as it’s got beautiful award-winning gardens, a forest the houses giant swings, zip wires, Crusoe’s World, Falconry displays, Working Horse Trust, and much more. Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ was filmed at Groombridge Place, including other literary connections. Groombridge Place also has a interesting association with Chafford House from the 18th century.
